More than 160 senior IT managers and executives gathered at the Piedmont Center in Buckhead Atlanta, GA, for an informative morning of presentations followed by a CIO Panel discussion.
First to present was Mauricio Sanchez, Chief network Security Architect at HP ProCurve Networking. Mauricio covered the subject of Balancing Network Security with Accessibility. Sanchez' opening comments put the issue in the most current context. President Obama is the first American President to use a Blackberry. For the device to be an effective tool for the President, he must have continuous real-time access, but National Security is paramount. This example is a great illustration of the constantly changing threat landscape from the march of technology that all organizations need to recognize and tackle. |

A lively group of more than 160 senior IT managers and executives gathered at the Piedmont Center in Buckhead Atlanta, attracted by the agenda of interesting, up-to-the-minute presentations and a distinguished CIO Panel. The professional gathering enjoyed an informative morning of networking and industry discussion on subjects close to the heart of many. Following the presentations, the CIO panel took their seats, comprising Nick Grecco, SVP IT and Infrastructure at Ceridian, Van Williams, Group CTO and SVP Technology at Fiserv, Noni Gonzalez, AVP Corporate Systems Mobility at AT&T, and Doug Haugh, EVP and CIO at Mansfield Oil Company. |

The second presenter was Duane Baldwin, ISG Practice Manager at COMSYS. The subject was Security, Regulatory Requirements and Driving Business Value. An effective business impact analysis was cited as key to understanding ability to comply with regulations without negatively impacting the business itself. An organization must understand what comes, goes out, and happens in between for effective security and regulatory compliance. |
