CIO Roundtable 2008 E-mail
Written by John Kosar

The Association of Information Technology Professionals – Atlanta Chapter and The United Way of Metropolitan of Atlanta hosted the 2nd annual CIO Roundtable to Discuss Achieving IT Success in Challenging Economic Times on September 18th.

AITP is a professional association comprised of career minded individuals who seek to expand their potential -- employers, employees, managers, programmers, and many others. The organization seeks to provide avenues for all their members to be teachers as well as students and to make contacts with other members in the IT field, all in an effort to become more marketable in rapidly changing, technological careers.

The United Way of Metro Atlanta unites and mobilizes the strengths of metro Atlanta's finest companies, nonprofit groups, faith-based organizations, government agencies and caring individuals.

The roundtable roster featured forward-thinking CIOs Hank Edwards from Tensar Corporation, Kathy Lamb from Ames Taping Tool Systems, Inc, Steve Brooke from Whoop, Inc. and Pete Mastin from Multicast Media. The panel was delightfully moderated by Bruce Kantelis from OpenSpan.

Social Networking, Outsourcing Speakers Shine at May Chapter Meeting E-mail
Written by Michael Ares

Attendees at last night’s AITP Atlanta Chapter Dinner were treated to two insightful and engaging presentations that had the whole room buzzing afterwards.

First up was Michael Thomas, Director of CRM for Neighborhood America and National President and National Board member of the CRM Association, who walked the audience through a five-step program for launching a Corporate Enterprise Social Network.  Michael’s remarks paid particular attention to a discussion of why the first phase of Social CRM Integration is a big step in leveraging the value of a company’s current CRM database to reach key constituencies of customers, suppliers and partners.

The second presentation of the evening was led by Paul Hernacki, CTO of Definition 6, an Atlanta-based application development and interactive marketing services provider, who spoke on the Future of Global Sourcing in IT.  No longer exclusively the province of large corporations, Paul laid out a compelling argument for how Definition 6 and others are bringing global IT outsourcing to small and medium-sized companies by taking advantage of the latest collaboration tools and on-demand sourcing relationships.

Stay tuned for the topic and speakers for next month's meeting...
