Bill Smith is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Chamberlin Edmonds, a national eligibility services provider for US-based hospitals. Bill’s record of accomplishments spans over 30 years of information technology leadership experience in domestic and international businesses including professional services, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, and primary metals. His experiences range from web-based applications to mainframe with emphasis in IT strategic planning, IT and business alignment, leadership mentoring, healthcare, supply chain management, customer service, ERP systems, B2B e-commerce, and large systems integration.

Before permanently joining Chamberlin Edmonds in 2004, Bill was a CIO Partner with Tatum LLC, a national professional services firm of Financial and Information Technology leaders.  At MasterCraft Boat Company, he acted as “shadow” CIO providing advisory services to the CEO, implementing IT Governance programs and mentoring the IT Director. Prior to joining Tatum, Bill was the Chief Information Officer at iXL, an Atlanta-based Internet and professional services company where he directed a global information technology organization.

Bill spent 14 years at General Electric in several senior information technology roles. Most recently, he was the Vice President/Director – Enterprise Management Systems for GE Capital IT Solutions where he led the implementation of ERP systems. At GE Lighting, he led improvements to their global supply chain demand and inventory planning processes to support their global business model. As Chief Information Officer for GE Lighting Europe, he led supply chain systems enhancements which significantly increased customer fill rates. Prior to his service in Europe, he led several key systems initiatives including IT strategic planning, business integrations, warehouse management, customer service consolidations, supply chain planning, sales force automation, and B2B e-commerce.  Prior to GE, Bill spent 13 years with Republic and LTV Steel in the information systems areas of order management, inventory tracking, and production reporting. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bluffton College.
