John Whitney is Vice President and Director of Information Technology for the investment firm of Montag & Caldwell, the oldest Atlanta-based investment firm, and one of the oldest in the southeast. The firm has been in existence since 1945 and manages $14 billion in institutional large cap growth assets for clients all over the world.

John is responsible for all technology at the firm, including the oversight of 80 virtual servers that are used for production, testing and disaster recovery. He is also responsible for all line-of-business applications across research, trading, portfolio management and transaction settlement. In addition, John is in charge of business continuity and disaster recovery for the firm.

John has over 25 years of experience managing technology in the investment management industry. Prior to Montag & Caldwell, John consulted for Consolidated Engineering Company as a software developer, the University of North Carolina at Asheville as a software developer for the Atmospheric Sciences Department, and as a systems programmer on IBM mainframes at Georgia State University. He also served as a software consultant for the 1996 Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.

John is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems.
