Mark Campbell
Mark Campbell is the chief information officer (CIO) at Atlanta Housing (AH), where he is responsible for project management, business solutions and records information management.
Prior to joining AHA, Campbell spent four years as the CIO for Pittsburgh Public Schools, where he was responsible for leading the organization’s strategic vision in information technology. Before joining Pittsburgh Public Schools, he was the CIO for the Boston Public Health Commission. In that role, Campbell was responsible for upgrading the technology infrastructure for the Health Commission, including the replacement of the email system, the redesign of the Wide Area Network (WAN), the implementation of an intranet and the replacement of the telephone system with digital technology.
Early in his career, Campbell honed his skills as the City of Atlanta’s director of telecommunications and later as the interim CIO. From 2003 to 2005, Campbell worked for T3 Design Associates as a project executive, and in 2001, he served as IT division manager for Standard Trust Bank in Lagos, Nigeria. Campbell has been responsible for the development of database applications for Predictive Systems and the Federation Simulation Center in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and has managed international points of presence (PoP) deployments with iBasis in Greece, Spain, and Japan. Prior to iBasis, he was responsible for installing the first call center in Belfast, Ireland.
He earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Colorado Technical University and completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program in strategic negotiations. He is also a graduate of Robert Morris University, where he earned a doctor of science (D.Sc.) degree in information systems and communications.
